Launching a Campaign to Promote Dairy Products Made from Natural Milk in Hodeidah

The Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Eng. Moeen Al-Mahaqari, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohamed Ayash Qahim, and the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Ahmed Atifi, inaugurated today, Sunday, December 22, 2024, a campaign to promote the production of dairy products made from natural milk in Hodeidah.
Efforts to Develop Local Dairy Industry
During the event, Minister Al-Mahaqari praised the efforts of dairy production factories in Hodeidah for successfully localizing the industry using 100% natural milk. He expressed satisfaction with the production of ten completely natural products, affirming the ministry's support for expanding production operations and incorporating natural milk into new products.
The minister emphasized the importance of strategic planning by dairy factories to expand production operations and accommodate the increasing amounts of natural milk provided by cooperative associations, focusing on opening new export markets within marketing strategies. He also called for enhanced collaboration between factories and associations to expedite the transfer of surplus milk to other factories in Sana’a and Taiz, highlighting the incentives provided by the new investment law to support local products.
Livestock Development Plans
Al-Mahaqari explained that the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, is implementing a livestock development project as part of the Economic Empowerment Program. He affirmed that the successful experiment in Hodeidah will be expanded to other governorates. He also urged factories to adopt renewable energy sources to reduce production costs and take advantage of tax exemptions covering the costs of such projects.
Enhancing Partnership Between Government and Private Sector
Minister of Transport and Public Works described the campaign launch as a significant step toward enhancing the partnership between dairy production factories and cooperative associations, encouraging farmers and productive families to expand production operations and improve their income sources. He also commended Minister Al-Mahaqari's efforts in fostering cooperation between the government and private sector and creating an investment-friendly environment.
Broad Local Support
Governor Atifi confirmed the local authority's readiness to provide all forms of support to ensure the success of the campaign, overcoming challenges faced by dairy factories and cooperative associations. He also pointed to the importance of establishing model collection centers to receive fresh milk from cooperative associations and providing necessary guidance to improve production processes.
Commitment to Developing the Industry
Representatives of dairy production factories expressed their commitment to expanding operations using natural milk and strengthening cooperation with cooperative associations through the development of collection centers and the provision of specialized milk transportation tanks to factories inside and outside Hodeidah.
Dairy Products Exhibition
On the sidelines of the campaign, the ministers and the governor inaugurated an exhibition showcasing natural dairy products, praising the quality of the displayed items. They considered this experience a qualitative leap in the national industry, promoting the local economy and delivering broad social and economic benefits.

The event was attended by Hodeidah’s Deputy Governor for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Mohamed Al-Nahari, Deputy for Services, Mohamed Al-Halisi, the Director of the Economy and Industry Office in Hodeidah, Saleh Mohamed, representatives of natural milk production associations, and Adviser to the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Mohamed Al-Sadiq.
